Plum Pictures was founded in 2003 by Galt Niederhoffer, Celine Rattray and Daniela Taplin Lundberg to produce intelligent and heartfelt feature films. Based in downtown Manhattan, the company produces two to three films a year, with a focus on both studio and independent films. The company also finances up to two films a year.
CARINA ALVES - Director of Creative Affairs
Before joining Plum Pictures
in 2004, Carina worked in network TV; her most notable experience at Late
Night with Conan O'Brien. Deciding to try her hand at film, she left TV for
the plum life and has worked on every Plum project from development through
delivery since . . . In that time she has also helped bring such projects
as Robert Lanham's Hipster's Handbook and Tobias Wolff's Old
School to the plum table. Carina is interested in stories about awkwardness
and astute observations of human behavior . . . and milkshakes.
JOY GOODWIN - Head of Development
Joy Goodwin, Head of
Development, earned her master's degree at Harvard. She is a former Emmy Award-winning
television producer for ABC, NBC, A&E, History Channel, and Biography
Channel. She has written about the New York theater for The New Yorker,
The New York Times, and The New York Sun.
PAMELA HIRSCH - Head of Production
Pamela Hirsch is Head
of Production for Plum Pictures, and oversees all facets of production for
the company. Before officially joining Plum in early ’07, Hirsch co-produced
WATCHING THE DETECTIVES by writer/director Paul Soter, starring Cillian Murphy
and Lucy Liu; and DEDICATION, Justin Theroux's directorial debut starring
Billy Crudup and Mandy Moore. Hirsch also produced LIFE IN FLIGHT starring
Patrick Wilson and Amy Smart; and RAVING directed by Julia Stiles. Prior to
her work with Plum, Hirsch co-produced John Cameron Mitchell's SHORTBUS, which
premiered at the 2006 Cannes FilmFestival, and line produced TRUST THE MAN
(2005, Fox Searchlight), starring Julianne Moore, David Duchovny, Billy Crudup
and Maggie Gyllenhaal. She also line produced SECOND BEST starring Joe Pantoliano
and Jennifer Tilly (Selection, Sundance Film Festival 2004); and THE BEST
THIEF IN THE WORLD starring Mary Louis Parker (Selection, Sundance Film Festival
2004); and produced MY SEXIEST MISTAKE and TEMPTING ADAM for the Oxygen Network.
Hirsch was also part of the production team for LIGHTNING IN A BOTTLE Antoine
Fuqua's documentary on the blues, shot at Radio City Music Hall in New York
City. Hirsch’s background comes from working as a line producer/production
manager and being part of many producing teams on numerous independent films
and television projects with NY-based production companies. Her experience
is grounded in over a decade of production work in the New York City film
and television community.
DANIELA TAPLIN
LUNDBERG - Partner
Born and raised in Los
Angeles, Daniela Taplin Lundberg grew up surrounded by the film industry and
worked at Fox Searchlight and Sony Pictures before graduating from Princeton
University. Upon finishing school, Lundberg moved to New York and quickly
partnered with Niederhoffer. The team produced a number of films including
films for Lions Gate and IFC . The pair also produced content driven internet
spots for companies such as Nike.
RIVA MARKER - Head of Post Production
Riva Marker
will oversee post production of all Plum films, after supervising post on the majority of Plum's 2006-2007 slate. In 2000, Riva Marker was selected by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences for a coveted placement with the Discovery Channel in Washington, DC. After creating short-form programming for Discovery Digital Networks, she was recruited to work for TransAtlantic Films in London. Riva has developed and produced documentaries for BBC, Channel 4 (UK), Discovery Science Channel and A&E. She produced the National Geographic film The Kennedy Mystique: Creating Camelot, which inspired a book of the same name. Riva joins Plum Pictures after working in the independent film community on such award-winning films as Room and Day Night Day Night.
GALT NIEDERHOFFER - Partner
While still a student
at Harvard University, Galt Neiderhoffer produced her first feature titled
HURRICANE STREETS which won Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Cinematography
at the Sundance Film Festival in 1997. She produced and adapted the screenplay
for Elizabeth Wurtzel’s best selling memoir Prozac Nation starring
Christina Ricci and Jessica Lange. She has been named to Variety’s
“Top Ten Producers to Watch” and Entertainment Weekly’s
“Young Hollywood List”. Recently, Niederhoffer published her first
novel with St. Martin's Press entitled The Taxonomy of Barnacles
which was optioned by Revolution Studios.
CELINE RATTRAY - Partner
Celine Rattray was raised
in London, and is a graduate of Oxford University with degrees in Mathematics
and Philosophy. During her three-year tenure at McKinsey’s Media and
Entertainment Practice, she consulted on various projects for American and
British Media Companies. In 2000, she joined HBO as Director, Marketing and
Business Development, where she was responsible for the development and launch
of new businesses, including HBO on Demand. Under her management, HBO on Demand
became a major ancillary revenue stream for HBO and launched in over 50 cities
nationwide with over a million subscribers.
